Todd O’Hair was raised on the family cattle ranch in the Paradise Valley south of Livingston, Montana.  After graduating from Montana State University in Business Management/Marketing, Todd joined Cargill Inc. in Kansas City Missouri as a Territory Manager for the Nutrena Feeds Division for three years.  Todd returned the family ranch for a short period before moving to Washington D.C. where he served as a Congressional aide to U.S. Congressman Rick Hill, focusing on agriculture and natural resource issues.   Upon Congressman Hill’s retirement in 2000, Todd was appointed Natural Resource Policy Advisor to Governor Judy Martz where he remained for the next four years. 

Todd is currently the Senior Manager, Government Affairs for Cloud Peak Energy (CPE).   CPE is one of the nation’s largest coal mining companies with coal mines in Montana and Wyoming’s Powder River Basin.   In Montana, CPE’s Spring Creek mine located near Decker Montana is this state’s largest operating coal mine, producing nearly 18 million tons of coal in 2008 and with a workforce of more than 200 employees. 

Todd is married to Melissa O’Hair, owner of one of Helena’s premier catering businesses.  They have two sons and a daughter.
