Since 1993, Steve has operated a consulting business in Helena centered in association management and government affairs. In 1996, he formalized the business, naming it Key Decisions. His current list of retainer clients includes the Montana Independent Bankers, Montana Funeral Directors Association, Wyoming Funeral Directors Association and the Montana Council for Maternal and Child Health. He serves as Executive Director of each of these organizations and lobbies for additional clients during biennial sessions of the Montana Legislature.
Steve’s professional life began in organizational politics, culminating in his role as campaign director of Stephens for Governor in 1988. Following the successful campaign, Steve served as the Governor’s Chief of Staff through June of 1991, and was then appointed to direct the Governor’s Office of Budget and Program Planning for the remaining eighteen months of the Stephens Administration.
In June of 1998, Steve gained accreditation as a Certified Association Executive. Steve holds an undergraduate degree in Politics from Washington & Lee University in Virginia. He is a Pennsylvania native who has lived in Virginia and Nevada, en route to Big Sky Country.
He and his wife, Beth, have three children and have lived in Helena since 1983. |
