The MCEE, in cooperation with the Council for Economic Education (CEE), the Montana Chamber Foundation, and the MSU Department of Ag Econ and Econ, hosted a one-day workshop for teachers designed to help them better understand the changing world economy, the impact on Montana and how to incorporate this valuable information into their classes.
Topics included Broad Social Goals of Economic Systems; Why Are Some Nations Wealthy?; Trade, Investment and the Balance of Payments; Immigration; and the NAFTA Debate.
This program was designed for 25 teachers and priority was given to those who could show how they would apply the information in the classroom. The MCEE provided lodging on Thursday night, February 26, 2009 (if needed), lunch and refreshments on Friday, February 27th, 2009 and reimbursement for the cost of a substitute teacher for Friday, February 27, 2009 (if needed). There was no fee for registration. Six OPI credits were awarded for completion of this workshop.
