Title: Business Education Specialist, Montana Office of Public Instruction

Eric Swenson is Montana’s newly-selected Business Education Specialist following 13 years as the business education teacher at Denton High School.  During his years at Denton High School he advised the Denton Business Professionals of America chapter and served as the district’s Tech Prep and CTE/Carl Perkins director.  He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business education from the University of Idaho. 

Eric is a past president and current membership director of the Montana Business Education Association, is a past president of the Montana Association for Career and Technical Education, and has recently completed a three-year term on the Western Business Education Association’s Executive Committee.

Through his professional involvements, Eric has been involved with a variety of business education and career and technical education curriculum projects at the state and national levels having worked with the Golden Triangle Curriculum Cooperative, the Montana Career Clusters/Big Sky Pathways’ Business, Management, and Information Systems committee, the National Business Education Association, the Family Economics and Financial Education Project, and has presented at numerous conferences on a variety of business education-related subject areas.  Eric has attended many MCEE workshops and was a participant in the first Business Week for Teachers.

Over the years, Eric has received many accolades for his classroom and professional experiences including being named the Secondary Business Educator of the Year by both the Montana Business Education Association and the Western Business Education Association and was presented with the Western Business Education Association’s Distinguished Service Award for 2010.
