Bret is Branch President of the Basin State Bank of Lewistown.  He grew up on the family farm, attended high school in Denton, and graduated from MSU in l982 with a degree in Agronomy.  He has worked for the Federal Land Bank, Farm Credit Services, Farmers State bank, and has held his current position since 1997.

Bret is Chair of the Fergus County Port Authority, and is involved with the Essential Air Service, the County Tax Appeal Committee, the HRDC Revolving Loan Fund committee, and various volunteer groups and committees in the Lewistown community.
