Annie Goodwin
Annie Goodwin was appointed Commissioner of the Division of Banking and Financial
Institutions in May of 2001. Commissioner Goodwin began her career with the State
of Montana over 20 years ago. The majority of this tenure was serving as the Chief Legal
Counsel and Administrator of the Office of Consumer Affairs with the Department of Commerce.
In addition, she also worked as defense counsel with Tort Claims Division of the Department
of Administration.
As Banking Commissioner, Ms. Goodwin has jurisdiction over Montana's laws pertaining to
state-chartered banks, state-chartered credit unions, residential mortgage lenders, consumer
loan companies, sales finance companies, title lenders, deferred deposit lenders, mortgage
brokers and loan originators and escrow businesses. She oversees the supervision of 64
state-chartered banks, 11 state-chartered credit unions and over 1,000 non-depository licensees.
Commissioner Goodwin heads a Division with approximately 26 employees, which includes a satellite
office in Billings, Montana.
Commissioner Goodwin has long been active in professional and civic affairs. She serves as a
Director of the Montana Council on Economic Education and on the Board of Directors of the Montana
Financial Education Coalition. She completed her undergraduate degree in nursing from Carroll
College and later obtained a Juris Doctorate from University of Montana School of Law. |
